Hi All,
2005 Freelander 1 TD4

Can anyone recommend the best tool to use to remove the Filler Plug? I've heard nasty stories about rounding and want to ensure my 1st attempt is successful as possible. Also I've heard drain plug is same size?

Took a lot at previous posts but the links to the tool are dead. Also am I best tackling this under the car removing the sump guard or is there other methods?

Thanks in advance

you need a six point socket not a 12 as you are in danger of destroying the bolt have the engine warm as well it helps

It's just an Allen bolt but normal Allen keys are too awkward to get at it so I use an Allen that fits my 1/4" socket set. It's still awkward but doable.
