I want to change my weeping gearbox cooler pipes and would like to go the whole way and replace the cooler. However I've checked all the usual suppliers and only Island show a make - and that's Britpart
I know that I can get the pipes made up so that's not an issue but does anyone know where I can get a cooler that doesn't come in a blue box?

I'm having this exact problem too! Main dealer want £300 for a genuine one!!

It's one of my long outstanding jobs : I've had the pipes sitting here for years : I got the pipes made up with metal compression fittings on them. My intention was to cut the metal pipes leading to the cooler and join metal to metal. I never got the cojones to do it....and now I see my cooler is weeping.
Have there been bd experience with the ****part coolers or is it just a general observation ?

Mines Britpart. I had no choice either! Been fine so far. Fitted a few months. I took the chance because it has no moving parts, so what could possibly go wrong!

You could measure the cooler you want and try here…

Welcome Think Automotive - bespoke automotive plumbing.

I live near them, and they are excellent for this sort of thing. Might not be cheaper than Britpart though!

It's not the price of the Britpart one - it's just that it's Britpart!
There's a re-built gearbox on the other end of the pipes - but £300
As you say it's got no moving parts and I suppose I could pressure test it before fitting.
In these days when you honestly don't know which factory anything comes from I suppose that it's a little blinkered to abhor the blue boxes, after all if everything they sold was total rubbish they wouldn't still be in business.

I replaced my autobox cooler and hoses on my 4.6 HSE about a year into ownership with Britpart from Island 4x4. I owned the car for over 12 years until I sold it and never had a problem since fitting it which is more than can be said about the original !!
Biggest problem with replacing the coolers is that the aluminium threaded stubs that the hoses attach "Weld" themselves to the steel pipe fitting due to electrolysis and the threads strip and block the threads on the nuts rendering the hose useless.
Regarding the engine cooler hoses, Search my previous posts from a few years ago as there is a write up on using replacement made up hydraulic hoses from the likes of Pirtek etc. without disturbing the steel hose section of pipe attached to the cooler.
Personally I have no problems with Britpart and the dissenters . I have had more quality problems with genuine LR parts than I ever had with Britpart....and Britpart come with a warranty.

especially with a 2 year warranty :)

Gentlemen, thank you for all of your comments. A Britpart cooler it is and, looking at the cost, a set of Britpart pipes to go with it.

Generally I avoid Britpart, but I have just fitted Britpart callipers to my P38, they are fine. The only flaw is the shoulder that stops the slide pin turning is wrongly machined so a spanner is required to hold the slide pin when tightening the bolt.

Used one about a year ago and it has been fine, not the best shape and fit but nothing to worry about and it's doing the job just fine. Pipes also fine. Would use again
