Hi guys i have got to change the diffs transfer box and gearbox oil soon i have been on a number of sites and everybody seems to have different views on what oil should be used. i got to think about this today we have slick 50 for the engines molyslip for gearboxes, and i know lucas do one aswell. Just an idea could we not use the standard oil and 1 liter of say the molyslip. Molyslip is what i used years ago in a astramax van when i had problems with the gears on that which was stiff in the morning and also stiff when hot. I popped some in the gearbox and by god it was tremendous after that so could this work in the land rovers aswell. your views on this would be appreciated. Dave

Well...you were expecting different views...?

Mine works fine with the MTF94 in the gearbox. Bought from the LR dealer around £28 for 5 litres. You can just about get 2 changes from 5 litres (I did, even tho it's supposed to take 2.6 or 2.7 litres).

In the transfer & diffs I used a decent semi-synthetic ep75w90.

No problems! Sweet as a nut. I'll be changing every 2 years.

Difflock's oil is just a bog standard fully synthetic gear oil from Amsoil with their 'high' markup, all the major oil companies now do it, MTF94 gearbox oil is from Texaco. Take your pick.
