for some reason on my range rover p38 when i change from drive into reverse it make a very bad clunk noise i have checked fluid level but it still seems to be doing it could soemone plz tell me what this could be

they also suffer from movement in the half shaft splines in the hub, landrovers fix is to take it apart and put locktight on the splines. where does it sound like the noise is coming from?

Check the prop shaft UJ's.
 
after checking everthing else jack both wheels on passenger side up and rotate back/forth with hands both output flanges on t/box in park to feel backlash in t/box ,viscous internal splines wear too,but will last along time like it and also general wear in castleations on clutch baskets locating grooves etc can lead to knock between d and r
