4.6 Thor set up.

I've noticed the box is kicking down way before I get the throttle to 100%. Take this scenario. Your doing 60mph and come to a steep hill you push on the gas and it drops one gear which is perfect but you want to get a bit of a squirt on so press the accelerator to close 70% open but the instant I open the gas that much she cog another gear down and then scream up to red line where it changes up. They're s no need for it to kick down the extra gear. It would of pulled it easily with just the one gear drop. I'm use to kick down not coming in (the second gear drop) until you press the accelerator hard in to the carpet. Older cars I'd just adjust the kick down cable to compensate. So is they're a separate kick down switch on the throttle linkage some where? Or does the gearbag ECU use the TPS sensor?

Bloody annoying. You've got this real grunty V8 up front yet all it wants to do is rev it's nuts off

Even with the diesel, it's prone to downshifting when it's not required if you hit it with a heavy boot, I've learnt to judge how much boot to give it to avoid it most of the time:)

+1...sounds normal...

The Full travel kickdown position is there so YOU can command a kick down, whereas before you get to that point, the ECU's are in control of the kick down and when it happens...your 70% pedal position is asking the engine to supply X% of torque, the Engine and Gearbox ECU's then decide between them that to deliver X% of torque requires a downshift and to increase the engine rpm to deliver this requirement.

The bottom detent position of the pedal travel is there so the driver can initiate a kickdown regardless of torque demand and ECU intervention.
