It’s booked in on morning of the 10th so il take it down Monday night and drop it off. Got new bolts coming for rear carriers so can do discs and tidy up bit this week.Any update from the Indy ?

Not taking any chances battery will be topped up the lot lol. Needs good run (and a wash underneath) more than anything so getting there should bed the brakes in a little and clean out the cobwebs
Side by side comparison of new plug seems spot on. I will test for size thoroughly before fitting! Thankyou Alan
Depends on how good he is he could drop the back of the gearbox to get a bit more access, possibly drive a bolt into the damaged plug and weld them together,the heat generated will hopefully powder the loctite,or a piece of flat bar with an appropriate size hole and weld this to the plug once it's moved a bit the flat bar can be ground down.once it's out it won't be going back in.

And if using mole grips don't forget to trap the skin on the palm of your hand in the handles just as they snap together.Drop the front prop and give yourself more room. Then get some good molegrips and get a really good bite on the plug. So you can only just close the molegrips and it'll shift. It's a soft as shïte the plug so the molegrips can sink there teeth in nicely. If not then hammer and chisel would be next.

Did BMW/GM just use random bolts from the parts bin? I did my gearbox (Td6) last weekend and the filler plug was a countersunk T50, a badly chewed one and so tight that I was gung ho in the end, convinced I would have to drop the gearbox, but without warning and with a grazed couple of knuckles it finally gave way. I was mighty relieved, good luck with the mole grips
I've no experience with the TD6 thank God.i was offered one with a reconditioned gearbox but then he told me it had been chipped then I found the rotten wheel arches,the non standard wheels no thanks I said.when I pointed out the weak spots he was crest fallen,it was his pride and joy but a polished turd is still a turd.The T55 is on a P38 not L322.
That makes sense, wondered why no one else had had this issue. Mine is definitely on my Td6 so I'm guessing that it has been swapped previously. I hope to still be around when it's due to be serviced again, so at least I know what is in store for me next timeThe T55 is on a P38 not L322.
Can't beat a bit of heat+1 irwin sockets...but the tack weld a bolt on is prob best
