Hi I've got a strange one here and hope someone can help. Whenever I start up first thing in the morning the gearbox fault comes on then about 2 seconds later it goes off and stays off until I stop and turn the ignition off, then it re-appears. This behaviour continues for several stop/starts until the engine warms up. I've had it diagnosed by range rover specialist who said the gearbox has no faults whatsoever and he cleared it, but sevsral hours later it re-appeared Any ideas would be very welcome Thanks, Donnie

Sounds like your battery is getting a bit weak, if the sensors dont get a healthy 12 volts they through up a fault then clear when you start up again ,might be worth checkingn your earth leads

I've checked earth leads, and they seem to be ok. It's only when I actually start the engine that the "gearbox fault"appears then goes out after acouple of seconds, and then again when I stop and turn the ignition off. Any other suggestions would be very grateful. Thanks Donnie.

just a quick question, after the "gearbox fault" has gone out, does the dash tell you which gear you are in, and are you then in safe mode?(slow pull away.etc:)
i had this once before, it was the gearbox selector unit needed adjusting.

Hello mate, No nothing comes on afterwards, when I put ignition key in I get "alarm fault" then when i turn engine over i get "gearbox fault" with the usual "beep", but it doesn't do it always. It doesn't do it later on in the day when the engine is warm for instance

it should always tell you which gear you are in (with the ignition on); ie: p,d r
if it does not, there is something wrong.
mine ,was, turn ignition on, p displayed on dash, crank engine, starts, gearbox fault message (appears with beep), p disappeared, car was then slow to pull away and drive, stop, turn ignition off for 2 mins, restart, everything right.

have you checked all of the connectors?
as far as i recall, the gearbox ecu is under the passenger seat.
the becm is under the drivers seat

thanks again mate, will give the ecu,s a check later, hopefully that will throw up something. Apart from this fault showing the vehicle is working superbly, its just this annoying bleep every time
