Hi everyone!
well here is my first problem with the DHSE. Went on a small journey with family and first noticed that the srs light was on and the comp saying airbag fault, fairenough i thought, il get it re-set but after about 2 miles of driving i then noticed it would not kickdown, it felt as if it was stuck in third, it wasnt untill i stopped and then re-started i noticed the "gearbox fault" come up.
reading through old threads it seems most have changed the battery and have gone from there, but i have to say there doesnt seem to be any problems with the battery? nor is there any noticable problems with the gearbox? could low fluid cause this? also worth noting is that sometimes when i start the rr it doesnt come up with the "gearbox fault" and everything is fine!

any thoughts or recomendations most welcome.

regards José

no trouble with starting at all, thats why im a bit mithed, so could it be that i do actually have a gearbox fault?

Briggsy I had the same problem with my DHSE gearbox fault when i put the ignition on to start and switching off the bloody thing tested the battery 9 volts fully charged but starting ok but for the fault.

New battery and i put 2 new EARTHS (1 under the fuse box on the body to the battery and 1 from the alternator to the chassis)

No more problem all the faults gone

hope this helps m8:)

All the gearbox fault means is the gear box is'nt geting enough power hence the new earths

Have to agree with everyone else, replace the battery with a nice new one with as higher CCA as you can get.

I also speak from experience of my DSE doing the gearbox fault thing, I thought it CANT be the battery, its fine until one cold morning (with my failed glow plugs) I went to crank and got about 4 revolutions before the battery gave out and died.

Replaced battery and I was all sorted, no more fault.

Has the SRS light gone away?? A common cause for it to light up can be the side airbags on the seats. See Range Rover P38/4.0/4.6 Common Problems and Fixes

I would check both the LH and RH seat connections and see what you find before spending lots on getting things diagnosed.

thanks for the much needed support guy's, i am going to check the airbag plugs tomorrow, are they easy to spot?
im having my local landrover specialist take a look at the gearbox problem on thursday, when prompted he said that the sensors/plugs on the auto box's sometimes cause some problems and mad just need a claen or replacement? does he know what he is talking about?

i am no expert by any shot, but i think he should be first checking the battery and then the alternator, i am only talking from my experience though.

a little update.......im now £260 lighter. JSF diagnosed the srs to be a faulty rotery coupler so i had that changed, that was £109. i also had them check and adjust traking and investigate the "gearbox fault". they looked at the codes and the only one ther was invalid throttle angle, they then tried to get the "gearbox fault" to pop up but they couldnt, so they concluded that it was just a blip and not to worry! im am releived as it could have been pricey!
