Hi all,

I hope someone can help me, I bought a range rover 2010 vogue se yesterday, on the journey home! It displayed Gearbox Fault and restricted performance on the digital dash, the car seemed to be fine before that, I turned the car off and back on again and no errors displayed and car drove fine.
I was on quarter throttle building up speed after coming of a round about when it happened.

The cars done 74 k. It's only covered 15k since previous owner serviced it in Oct2014, it was serviced in August 2017 with 72k. So quite a gap in time but not many miles.

I'm aware now that it will need the 75k service of fluids to transfer box, gearbox etc.

I want to do that but is the problem I've had major or fixable at this stage before something major goes wrong...!?

Please any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

Take it back and get garage/ previous owner to fix or get your money back. I hope you didn't pay cash ;)

Is your L322 a 5.0 V8 petrol (ZF 6HP28) or a 3.6 V8 diesel (ZF 6HP26)? You really need to get the P-codes read using a capable (Land Rover specific) diagnostic kit. A generic OBD code reader won’t read the transmission codes that you need.

goldrover is on the ball there, I'd be turning the bus around and heading back!! I hope they didn't tell you "the gearbox just needs an oil change"... How did they know that and why didn't they do it?? Bar stools!!

If you buy a rangie then you need to buy a good code reader. It's not an option unless you like forking out £50-£120 a time for a garage to reset or diagnose problems £80-150 will get you one that reads gearbox and air bags and abs
Worth its weight in gold and keep it in the car
