Hi all. I recently bought a D2 from the UK which has a recent 'Ashcrofts' replacement gearbox and clutch...

It's just a few months old and already third gear is a bit 'iffy' (like 2nd gear normally is) and the clutch has very little play from the floor before it engages - the clutch was like this when I bought it and I thought adjusting would be no problem.

Is the clutch adjustment on these relatively simple? Normally I would check my Rave CD but the computer isn't reading the Disc this morning

Way back in 2007 I had an awful experience with Ashcrofts - two replacement gearboxes and three transfer box changes to fix the problem. i'm hoping I'm not going to have to drive back to the UK for yet another after sales fiasco...

Hi, the clutch on D2 is not adjustable, try to bleed the system well and if no joy you better replace the master and slave cylinders both cos that's the best practice... if still no joy i'm affraid it's gearbox off job

Thanks. I just had an email from the previous owner ( very helpful) who said he had the bias plate adjusted shortly after the gearbox was changed. Apparently it is a common problem.

However, I will try bleeding the clutch system before attempting anything else...
