Does anyone know if I can fit a disco 200 tdi gearbox into a defender with a 19j engine?

yes but it would have gear stick near center seat

Is the tdi engine further back then? Can I use the bell housing from my defender?

defenders have until 300 engine and all v8s ,short bell housings on gearbox as engine sits against bulkhead ,disco has longer bell housing ,so fitting it on a 200 or 2.5 td etc would push gear stick back anyhow ,plus as gear stick on disco sits on rear of box and on defender forward on extension housing put it even further back

I see thanks for the help. So I need to find a box from a defender then? Is there any other land rover I could get a box from that will work?

not unless you convert box or put engine forward

boxes from disco can be converted to def if you strip box and have the parts and tooling

Ok thanks that sounds like a nightmare so it looks like I will go back to looking fora defender box! Thanks again for your help
