I am going to buy a new gaiter for my TD4 2006 gear stick as the old one is crumbing.

How does the leather gaiter attach to the plastic surround?

I am assuming the gear knob just unscrews?

Gear knob unscrews, then unclip the plastic surround (silver part), inside your see another part clipped in, unclip, then peel leather from black plastic ring, glue new one on, clip back together. Make sure you put the seam of gaiter back in the right place.
