quickshift

Hi all, my 1997 DSE Auto has a very stiff gear lever, which isnt too bad between P-D, but is nearly impossible to move any further down towards 1. it is the same in high or low range, but has no trouble moving between the two. i have heard it could be the cable being kinked and rubbing against the inside of its housing, but cant find a new one anywhere. short of taking the whole thing out and re lubricating it, was wondering if there was possibly another problem????
any help or suggestions are much appreciated

I have a classic auto. Had a similar problem. Check your oil levels. Also does it only do it when cold? Also have a look for any crap in the shift lever surround.
If none of these things are the cause, You can probably say that its the cable.

As for a replacement look on Ebay for someone braking the same motor.

cheers for the help khryztal, oil levels spot on and it does make a difference hot or cold. took the surround of today and gave it a good clean but didnt help. better get looking on ebay i suppose.....

cheers mate, i only live up the road from them, took it to him to have the oil cooler done (it was completely cracked nearly in half), richie from there was the one who told me it wasnt right, i had only really driven manuals before. im trying to save a bit of cash at the moment, so would prefer to do the work myself if possible.

sort of. left soaking in tri flow for an afternoon, whilst working the cable in and out. better, but not perfect.
