hey guys!! i need help..... i have had my landy series 3 diesel sat on my stepdads farm for most of the winter ( if it was a winter lol, too warm for that ) anyways, it started first time no hastles but wouldnt go into gear. after a couple of goes it went into gear and a huge bang later the engine cut out. i put it out of gear, turned it on again and the engine started but again wouldnt go into gear. this time i turned it off, and when i selected reverse it went in. the car will work in whatever gear it is started in only.... i had to move it a few hundred yards so put her in second and away i went. so.. ive checked the clutch fluid level and that was fine, so im lost... HELP!!!!
second problem, one hub seems to be leaking oil, so im guessing theres an oil seal or something on the hubs? plus where do i fill it up again? i know this sounds a bit stupid but i havent worked on a landy before, only newer cars :S any help greatly appreciated!!

The clutch feel itself is normal, there's no vibration, it provides resistance all feels normal.

With the engine off, I can select a gear and when running, if the clutch is depressed, it removes drive to the wheels, however I can't change gear.

If switch the thing off again, I can jam it in gear, but not with the engine running.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

hi, well today i went to brookwells in bovey tracey and got some bits, while i was in there i asked about the clutch etc and they said either the clutch centre has broken and is partly woring or possibly the main shaft has broken.. will let you know how i get on

Sounds like the main shaft or lay shaft is stuck, but brookwells or james tennants will put you right
