LR Disco 1 1998, R380 type gear box.
Have looked at most of the previous posts concerning the wonderful bias plate as mine is holding the gear lever in the 1st - 2nd plane which makes quick changes to third & fourth a bit of a nightmare. It was fine and was replaced by my local LR indie about 2 years ago.
Have taken all apart (after some trepidation) and revealed the bias plate & the two springs. On my plate the two springs are a totally different guage of wire. The one that pushes the lever to the right is half the gauge of the one that pushes the lever to the left. Thus the lever is being held to the left.
I note that in some posts ther has been reference to the ability to adjust the springs. How?
Should the springs be different gauges of wire?
Sorry there are no pictures, it's raining (again) and I can't remember how to reduce the pictures so I can post them. Last time I tried it all ended in tears!!
Any help gratefully received.
