I have a problem when changing gear, worse being reverse which will not engage unless i turn the Disco off.
The rest of the gears will engage but with force (the gear box is a LT77)

Any ideas on what has caused this problem ??

Thanks.

slave cylinder?

does the car try and move if you hold the clutch in for any length of time?

and BTW I have no idea if the clutches on these are even hydraulic.. I have an auto... just offering ideas...

The clutch IS hydraulic. It is more than likely slave or master cylinder leaking. Check the level in the resevoir on the back of the pedal box.

Have checked the fluid & thats fine.
No leaks visible.

I have changed the part which keeps the gear lever from wandering due to the old part snapping, with doing this the changing of gears is slighly better but i still have no 1st gear or reverse gear when the Disco is running.

Anybody else have any ideas ??

Thanks.

I had exact same problem with my Camaro before the clutch went - it tore the centre plate right out the disk. Clutch was binding as the plate was flexing too much. Might be the issue if your hydralics are good.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

I'll check the Disco over at the weekend, hoping the weather is a little better by then too.

I got the Disco into the local garage.
The master cylinder & slave cylinder has been changed aswell as a full clutch kit. The middle section of the exhaust was replaced too.
Driving excellently now which is a big relief.

Thanks for all the replies.
