Hi 4 days ago I commited the cardinal sin of taking the drain plug out before the filler.
Then destroying the head on the filler plug.
However despite thinking I might actually have to scrap the car or take the gearbox out I managed to get it out with a screw extractor.
I just need a new plug now I went to the landrover place in the west mids who said they don't have any freelanders in.

School boy error, into the naughty corner.

Nope, good work getting it out, no need for naughty corner.

You don't say what what box it is or clearly where you are for someone that might help with a (temp?) replacement bolt - back in that corner :)

I wonder if it's a bsp thread like the series and Defender have?
Never even sat in a freelander so I don't know.
Pop along to a plumbing place with your plug and ask them to compere for you. Less than a quid for say a 3/4 bsp plug.

Hi it was the manual box. I got one now from a scrap yard of an MG rover ZT tdi.
I was in a real bad mood on sunday I thought I'd either have to get a mobile mechanic and pay about 500 to take the gearbox off or just scrap it.

Very nearly did the same myself recently but thankfully realised just in time I was using a torx instead of Allan key and got it out OK.
Local scrappy should have loads of spares.
