One other thing that is concerning me of late is the variation in the temp gauge for no immediately apparent reason.
Radiator recently replaced, but this pre-dates that, temp can vary from just below the white line on gauge (normal in attached pic) to being more or less vertical (hot in pic), coolant level is constant, so no leaks happening. one other thing is that heat level goes cold when gauge rises, and turning up the heat controls brings gauge back to lower level.

Airlock or thermostat stuck open, the gauge should be at 12 o'clock when the engine has warmed up.
