G'day All,

I'm from Oztralia, the Land Down Under, and live in the state of New South Wales on the coast about 300km's (175miles?) north of Sydney in the smallish seaside village of Old Bar Beach which has about 3,000 people. My home is about 75 meters away from the beach.

My first experience off road was as a 10 year been tossed around in the back of a Land Rover on the beaches around Noosa in the mid-1960's. Next time off road and I was behind the wheel of a Ford F100 4x4 351inch V8 in 1981 in western NSW.

I purchased a 1976 SWB Landcruiser back in the early1980's before the boom in off-roading took off but which I never drove off-road as living and working in Sydney at the time took priority over getting out into the bush...what a lost opportunity!

I've been in a historic car club for the last 12 years and have decided that I want to "kill two birds with one stone" ...get a 'classic' Land Rover for car club runs and to go "light" 4x4 driving in the local State forests during my days off...

I'm firstly looking at Land Rovers and then secondly the early 2 door Range Rover as possible contenders for my next vehicle.

I hope to learn from forum members and maybe in the future add to the store of Land Rover knowledge and appreciation.

Hy mate,

Welcome the the forum. Feel free to throw your hat in whenever the fancy takes you.

As you might gather from the signature line, I'm not realy a Land Rover nut, I'm only here to keep this lot honest and wind 'em up a little now and then.

Like I said, welcome, tho' why you should want a Landy when you have all those beautiful Cruisers down your neck of the woods I realy can't think !!!

Cruisermik. ;) ;)

Thanks for the "welcome" cruisermik.

As you may of seen from my brief bio I owned a 1976 SWB Landcruiser in the mid 1980's (sold it in Jan 1984) before been able to drive it off-road 8-(!

I'm going for a Landie because of my location...hope to have less problems with rust(corrosion instead? I guess?) and I like the looks of the Landie/Rangie more than the Toyota (Hilux excepted) .

Time will tell...!
