Guys,
Been progressing the engine assemble on my project, but got some seals & gaskets I can't identify in the top-end kit from Island4x4.

Almost ready for install. Will do the heads after it's in the car to make bell-housing bolt access easier.

Hi..Had the same when i did my HGs...P38 4 litre Thor....The kits tend to be a bit universal i.e. will suit more than one Land Rover/ RR engine....in my case they were surplus to requirements and were not needed.
Kind regards

Ah a much nicer unit than the modern things you find the the later RR.

Nice old fashioned OHV ;)

Simple as shyte to build! ;)

Looks smart..

No idea about the Gaskets though ;)

Ha ha very funny ;)

The fragile nature of the engine suits the rest of the car ;)

There was a post on here a while ago and that said the same you get extra seals and gaskets but not for your engine

I think the 8 bigger ones are injector seals of some description for older (Lucas hotwire?) EFI - The others, I *believe* are for things like the water feed/return from the inlet manifold - again on the older (maybe 3.5 or pre serpentine) engines. I had them left over on mine (thor) too...

Nice shiny engine - did you go with top hat liners?

That was mine before I fitted it nearly 2 years ago... It's not looked that clean since!!

I will save the seals in case they are useful one day !!

Mine didn't need new liners. It was pressure tested at 40degC, and the only leaks were 3 core plugs. Replaced them all just in case.

Did yours need the drip tray ?

Nice!

The tray under mine in the picture was actually from parts washing/de-greasing - I had bought a number of second-hand parts which I cleaned up/ refurbed like front cover), so the tray was where I did all that in the garage.

Mine has a random oil leak though, but doesn't seem to drip too much!
