After a great first year with my 1993 Defender, it's MOT time and I fear there will be need for some structural work beyond my limited skills.

So, I'm looking for a trustworthy garage, ideally specialized in fixing and restoring Land Rovers. Any suggestions from you lot?

Thanks,
Shady

I'm almost certain there are some closer to Reading but I would highly recommend the guys at Challenger 4x4 in Tongham, Surrey (they're just up the road from me). It's about an hour drive from Reading - although that is an a TDV8 :p

Very good reputation across all forums I frequent. Be warned though when I spoke to Keith about a week ago they're booking up fast, he recommended about 2 weeks notice given their work queue at the moment.

I'm sure there are some closer though!

Rovertune in Tilehurst. Also there's a Landy place in Piddington, nr. West Wycombe, not that far from Reading really ( about 15 mins from me, in Henley ).

Thanks guys! I have had the clutch replaced at Safari engineering in Eversley (£500), but as that's the only place I know, I don't have much reference. @bluedog333, I suspect a fair bit of chassis welding / repair will be on the cards.

£500 seems a little on the high side, but not massively. Have you considered getting a MIG welder and having a bit of a practice yourself? I know it's far too easy for us to say " just do it yourself ", but you might end up spending a fortune otherwise! Then again, you might be minted!

I've used Newbury 4x4 a few times and they seem pretty good, and another friend uses them too. Or I've heard recommendations for Keith Gott in Alton but I've no first hand experience.
