He probably hasn't sorted it because in his eBay listing there is no mention of 4WD in the specs.
Happened to check another Freelander and noticed in the comments that they had a shifting problem on the auto box between 2nd & 3rd.....
"so we asked a garage to change the gearbox oil - it hadn't been done before. She came back from the garage with no reverse gear and still has the selector/smoke issue under heavy load"
