Hi Guys, I looked under my car today and saw a gap between the gearbox and a cover plate, actually showing a part of the inside. (See picture) Is this harmful, and if yes what would the part number be of the cover plate? Thanks a lot

What engine is that?
The cover doesnt look like a seal and there appear to be 2 bolts missing. Put those back and some of the gap will disappear on tightening.
As long as the bell housing nuts are tight there shouldn't be a issue with separation.

Its only a cover plate. Its there to stop gravel and stones going into the flywheel. Just put the two bolts back in.

thanks guys! I live in Costa Rica and have to cross rivers now and then. So my worries were if water and dirt would enter the gap. So nothing bad no?

Cheers!

Ps here's a picture of my beauty! Has a Mitsubishi Montero 2.6 Diesel engine. Parts for land rover are rare here in Costa Rica.

Cheers

Try to seal it up all the way round if you can, if you wade in deep water it will get in and could ruin your clutch and starter motor
