I recently acquired this galvanised Series 2A front panel that I plan to fit to my S3 (with proper metal grille). However, it is slightly warped (see photos).

Should I just leave it and hope that bolting it up straightens it, or is there any easy way to straighten it? I would sooner do this before it gets painted as twisting after painting would probably damage the paintwork.

Thanks for any info.

I'm sure that will be no problem when it bolts up and the paint will be ok too. Can you flex it straight by hand?

I'm afraid that the nature of galvanising thin parts the hot dip warps parts , bolt it on it will be fine .

Yes and what a pain it is too. I get all the thin panel jobs at work, it's not nice seeing them all come back warped to feck!

Should pull back ok when bolting as has been said. Use a decent etch (T-Wash for example) so the paint has good tack and it shouldn't lift.

You a panel man or galveniser?
Scrap that I read it wrong cool

Hi Webley

Just out of interest how much did the panel cost you?

A really good etch primer is key as I used an international auto paint one and a year later the paint flaked off in places when painting my galv door tops.

Thanks
