Right then, so, pre-emptive strike time - D1 chassis getting a bit thin here and there, so time for a galv one..

Has anyone fitted a Maer one ?

https://www.maer.com.pl/land-rover-discovery-i-300tdi-chassis

Any good ?

Any other alternatives out there which I should consider ?

Thanks :)

( just so we know - my D1 is getting a new chassis - I am not getting a new vehicle! ).

Have heard only good reviews about maer, if I heard about them before I ordered my richards chassis I probably would have gone for the maer due to the price.
Had no issues with the richards one, however they did have to replace a bracket which was welded on wrong after it had been galvanised.
Heard alignment issues with shielder, not sure if they've improved though.
Used marsland twice (110 and 90), excellent fit and made as to the original, although the prices have almost trippled since I used them.

Good stuff - thanks for the reply :)

I've been emailing Maer - they reply very quickly, and I am impressed thus far..

It does seem strange that there appear to be no rebuild threads about on the interweb using their D1 / RRC chassis'.

I can see both our D1's needing the same treatment, so I've also asked Designa chassis for price and availability..

I have read quite a few posts on the discovery 2 page on Facebook using the maer chassis. Think there is a company that buy them in rather than getting it direct from Poland. Will take a look for you

Get in touch when your doing it @s ive got @ big box full of new bushes n other stuff if you w@nt them. :);)

Looks like 'spanner monkeys' based in Newcastle deal with maer. Not sure if it's cheaper to buy from them (or if they would supply a bare chassis). Might be worth a phone call, see what they say.
Probably only do supply and fit.

Thanks for the reply - I'll have a look... :)

ETA:- found 'em..

Will ring them on the morrow ;)

Thanks again..
Hi

just wondered how you got on with Maer?

I have seen lots of adverts for them and I have just had a look at their website for a new bulkhead for my 90 and they are quoting 1499 for a stainless steel one which is at least half as much as a similar a s/s version in the U.K.

It seems too good to be true but from the threads I have seen (mainly disco owners) they may be an option?

Thanks.

Maer have been excellent in answering questions, and sending pictures.. I've been too busy with work to actually push the button on ordering two.. ( one for each D1!!), but we will do so within a few weeks, to fit in with my quiet time in august..

IMHO, SS might not be the best choice for a BH, because it can be fragile, and subject to fatigue cracking - but this is totally dependent on the precise grade - which I'm presuming they have both considered and would tell you, if you asked...

I'll update this thread when I have pushed the button

Thanks. Yes I am still doing my own research on stainless steel.

on closer inspection it seems they might not be right for my 90 as mine is pre 200tdi and their bulkheads go on from that.

I may just stick with a galvanised one from a U.K. supplier. They are mainly around 1800.

wishing you the best of luck with your chassis.
