Right so on the weekend I began to strip down my 1998 defender 90 pickup to inspect the seat box, foot wells and bulk head for corrosion, and for a 68,000 mile defender there was a hell of a lot! shouldn't be surprised really though, its spent its entire life with one owner used on a farm. the seat box needs repairs, foot wells aren't too bad but will be patched, the bulkhead however has corrosion in areas hard to get to for welding without being fully stripped, I therefore decided that I might as well have this galved once repaired then go for a new galv chassis from marshland seen as it would be easier to do now than later down the line, just wanted to know any tricks or tips when doing so to make the process easier down the line! may be a few weeks before the strip down and rebuild start but I'll do my best to keep you updated!

Because they're ridiculous money and it's cheaper to do it yourself?
I'd do it myself too. If you've got the time and can weld etc then it seems a no brainer.

As aaron said they are ridiculous money, the bulkhead isn't too bad to repair but it needs taking out all together so I might aswell get it galved at the same time

So today I began to strip down more of the land rover, I got most of the body panels off including the bonnet, doors, roof, wings and rear tailgate. I then proceeded to remove the seatbox and what did I find? rot, rot, rot, and even more rot, the sides of the seat box were shot, and the battery box has seen better days, these will therefore need to be remade or replacing with bought repair panels.

also wanted to ask if anyone knows how to change the name of the thread as I know wish to post all my rebuild pictures and posts in this one? cheers

Sorry new to the forum, pictures have come up absolutely huge on my computer screen, have they done this to other people aswell? if so how do I reduce the size of them on here?

Yes they are very large but afraid I don't know how to change them.

Go into photobucket or whatever hosting you use and resize them in there.

Yrm metal solutions do nice stuff, had their seat box repair panels, fit first time nice quality.they make battery box etc. Well worth a look.

Yeah I've had a look at yrm's stuff before, hoping to be able to make repair panels myself though
