Once the bulkhead has been galvanised how do you go about painting it then? Would it be straight on with an etch primer or what stages would you need to do before painting

If it's new galv then it needs to be painted in T-wash aka Mordant solution first, otherwise the paint won't adhere properly. Slap it all over, watch the glav go a funny black colour, then hose it off. Repeat this again, allow it to dry thoroughly then spray etch primer as per normal.
