Thinking of going for a bit of an explore around the Gainsborough/Retford area tomorrow and was wondering if anyone else is up for a bit of laning tomorrow?

Have you got a winch/recovery kit and anyone to go with who can recover you? Some of the lanes are a bit wet and rutted .. and some of the worst 'holes' are covered in vegetation so you can't always see them before you drop in!

We love 'em .. ;)

I took the 'stuck' pictures off so the bobblies can't use 'em against us, but check the videos ..

I don't at the minute, currently saving for a winch and being fairly new to this i don't know anyone who is into it yet! I was just going to go and have a look at some easy going simple lanes and not take on anything too challenging!

Hehehe, they all look interesting .. ;)

Seriously though, be careful. It's flat (ish) farmland mostly and a lot of the routes are used infrequently by tractors, so the ruts start out innocuous and you think it's nice and gentle, but they often develop into real deep ruts that I and tc got stuck in .. and he has locking diffs too!

Make sure that if you're pushing through overhung tracks that you check (walk them first) the ruts ahead of you ... there's a Landyzone International rescue service and I know most of the Byways so just shout if you do get stuck .. ;)

Good on you .. There's only a few lanes that are bad, most are just nice and reasonable and some are lovely and picturesque .. have fun .. :)

Well, been out for most of the day today and apart from getting stuck once (probably due to inexperience and beginners judgement!) its been a successful first time out laning! Will post a few pictures up later on. Looking forward to spending many more days out like this one! Big thanks to the kind local farmer who turned up with his tractor and found it hilarious seeing us stuck and then pulled us out!
