Finally sorted those ffffff fuses.on the drivers wing when I routed the cables along and to the headlights.
There were 4thin black wires.stupid me thinking they were earth wire's.
Two were live.they go through bulkhead and into a small plastic block full of thin black wires.
So be careful don't be a pillock.

IMO you was not stupid cos there is no way to have live black wires from factory, ... if that's the case it's a bodge made by a PO, LR fitted pure black wires only for earth on all modells since the beginning

What about the alarm system? They run all black wires.

Thank you very much.
I did say thin black wires.i do know the difference from the thicker earth cables.
So if people aren't sure even if it's black use a test light.
But thanks for that mention.top man.

If its a 200tdi then they had fusible links, caught many people out over the years, google them.

It's a 300tdi.
Sorry to say this . but if anyone goes and check the drivers side remove the kick board.there is a compact set of thin black wires.use a test lamp you don't need the ignition on.not all of these wires are live.
But that was my fault because four of them go through the bulk head.
I will try and find a diagram.

You could be looking at the earth wires involved with the radio head unit remote control that are fitted around the dash pod, push switches that are for up and down volume, channel change etc etc. the wire is used formed into a termination block of black wire, thats two wires per switch and the ground point in a foot well in along with other stuff lighting etc
