So bit of back ground on faults first. When I got the RR the blowers didn't exactly blow just a little breeze bit of research led me to relay 7 in the fuse box it did have a badly burnt pin and the fuse holder was a little melted. New relays problem solved but new I would have to tackle the main cause, fuse box.

Just recently intermittent blowers and my book symbol was coming up on the hevac but everything was working bit strange.

So today was the day took the fuse box out of the car you can see the burnt holder under relay 7

Stripped it completely best way I decided to do this was to cut the links between the PCBs it just needs to much heat to get all that solder off without damaging lifting the copper print. Just resolderd the cut pins on assemble make sure you use small cutters to cut these links if you do this method.

You can see the fried holder and again print side burnt out, while I had it apart I looked for and found another dozen or so dry joints all cleaned and solderd up.

Put it all back together refitted and tested well I never everything works and my book symbol on the hevac has gone been out for an hours drive all ok

even if you think you dont have a problem in that fuse box you do its badly made poor pcb very thin found a lot of bad joints on the maxi fuses and other relays.

mine wasnt as bad as some iv seen during research on the net

i will do a step by step how to guide but its back in the car now and i didnt take to many pics, how about you get a s/h one post it to me il refurb it and send it back good as new

+1 Excellent! :clap2:
Did you have to re-synch fobs after? or re-set windows etc as per battery removal?

yeah normal stuff for battery dissconnect mine syncs by unlocking/locking while holding down remote button just been out again still all ok no book symbol on the hevac all working ok left it on auto and the blowers go on and off as needed to maintain correct heat.

just a full front diff overhaul and head lining to do and i think im done, think my steering wheel shudder i experienced recently was power steering related iv got a wet power steering hose.

wow , that's an offer I can't refuse if you don't mind, I will p.m. you if that's ok , many thanks dave . :):):)

so the book symbol returns  but this time iv got a flashing snow flake to go with it looks like the external air temp sensor mite be playing up will have a look see tomorrow bit odd tho everything works i can make it all go off again sometimes by switching on and then on again.

blowers are still working as is the heat and blowing where ever i want it to ;);)

External air temperature was certainly snowflake round here this morning!

yep have carried out tests today and eliminated the external air temp sensor think its a sticky blend motor on passenger side causing the book symbol bit odd tho seeing as it went out after fixing the fuse box

Fuse box on its way out again?;)

haha no mate the fuse box isnt causing the book symbol after all the fuse box is now in tip top health. iv tested the external air temp sensor thats all good.

when i did my valley gasket i moved the a/c compressor out the way mite have something todo with that. up to then intermittent book symbol off more than on. think having the battery dissconnected for a while reset everything. who knows its a range rover.

Hi Dave,
When I purchased my RR I also had the check book symbol popping up occasionally so got a friend of mine to pop over with his nanocom and when he plugged it in it showed that the sensor on the coolant pipe behind the dash was reading incorrectly, may be your problem too. They are a doodle to change and cost around £20 from island.
Hope this helps. Paul.

Have you got any diagnostics to read the HEVAC fault? There must be someone in London with a Nanocom or similar!
