Evening all,
My 90 has developed a weird popping noise and I think it could be a cv on its way out, but I just want to be sure so here are the symptoms:

Stationary, full lock left, just as coming to full lock, click/pop/bang, turn it back right, sometimes get another, then back left, same again. First noticed it when turning hard left into the track at home, but only does it once....

....can't see anything moving if I sit underneith and get someone to steer it, so does this sound like CV, is there a way to narrow it down before I change the CV and its still there?

Cheers....going laning in the morning so hope its nothing major!!

sounds like cv,you can jack wheel up and spin wheel while in either lock and listen and feel for worh joint

Mine did similar noise on RH full lock, so naturaly thought cv's. took them apart nothing!!.Now i don't know why, but it turned out to be play on the front end of the F radius arm bushes .

Well I have just changed my front bushes, but doesn't seem like there is play in them, plus I think to make a bang whilst stationary you would definitely see something move along with the noise.

Weird thing is it passed its MOT on Wednesday! Wouldn't the guy feel it when he was checking the wheel bearings?

put new tyres on ages ago, why would it be tyres.....just so I can rule it out, I know it does touch the radius arms a tiny bit but thats not the noise, its kinda weird, if you full lock left, turn a bit away and go back it don't do it, you sort of have to turn it all the way right, then back again to make it do it.

No i must say mine did it on the move, statinary i could'nt get it to make a noise, the banging noise you mentioned , on mine was the springs mooving in it's seat yes it's loud all right.

So is there any way to totally make sure that its the cv or shall I go ahead and change it anyway, they clearly wear out anyways and they're pretty cheap

DITO: Although to me somehow they seem to cheap for what they are, some of the aftermarket ones, to the point that makes me wonder about the quality. on the plus side it wont brake the pigy bank if it's no fix..
