Arfternoon,
Got most ****ed off when I kept getting flashed on the way home last night, so pulled over and realised me spotlights where still on even though switch was off (switched with full beam on the stalk) they only went out when I turned my main light switch off, then they don't come back on again until you put main beam on again.
I don't think that my headlight main beam is staying on although was difficult to tell while having my retinas burned by the spots.
Am useless at elektrikery so anybody know if it's the switch or a relay or summink.

sounds like relay sticking.
 
or a bad earth on the spots relay - I've had the same problem meeself.
 
bad earth on the connection under the wing for the actual headlight did this for me, due to it earthing back through the relay once it had been triggered - very odd.

Decided to ave a look at me problem this morning, and the symptoms appear to be R/H Headlight very dim, full beam indicator on dash parially illuminated when headlights switched on, and as I mentioned before spots staying on when switch in the off position.
On inspection the conector block to the R/H Headlight appears to be slightly melted and corroded (Black wire), I cleaned it up as best I can but it's made no difference.
Where am I likely to find the relay for the spots?
Bearing in mind I know feck all about lektricks what should I do appart from drop it off at an exspensive auto lectrickian?
I'm off back out in freezin cold to play with it and probly make it worse until someone wiv a brain can post some wisdom
 
If the spots were home fitted, the relay could be anywhere!
Trace the wiring back from the lights till you find it.
 
Cheers Mr T, thought that might be the case, is it more likely inside i.e bulkhead/dash or in the engine bay?
Gonna ave a cup o tea for a minute coz it's freezin out, must have got soft livin down here............
 
ave a look on the wings or bulkhead behind the engine. but only if you trace the wires. you could be fiddling with the wrong relay otherwise! when i wired up my rooflights i put my relays behind the speaker on the passenger side. an option, if the wires disapear around there.

Found the relay, cleaned the earth and feck me if it didn't do the trick!!!!!!:)
Fitted some super xenon technology headlight bulbs while I was at it (Got em cheap) can't say I can see the difference apart from the light looks a bit blue, supposed to be up to 90% brighter!!! wouldn't pay £16 a pop for em though apparently thats what they go for in halfrauds.

Thanks for all the advice would have been stuck without it.
It goes to show that LZ is a great source of knowledge and experience, not just a bunch of mentalists arguing, takin the ****, and posting pointless bollocks ;)
