Morning!

The fuel tank on my 1988 90 has sprung a leak. I cant see where from exactly but I imagine it is from the seam. Is it repairable? If so does anybody have any tips?

Thanks

Petrol or Diesel. How much of a leak can be debatable but stick a small tupperware box underneath and refill.

Thanks for replies, its a diesel, not from sender or lines, almost definitely seam so looks like a new tank then, bugger!

I plugged a leaking petrol tank with David's Isopon years ago. It was meant as a temporary fix until I could afford a new tank but it lasted for a couple of years until I eventually scrapped it due to gearbox rot almost everywhere.

I might have to go down that route for a while, they are £100! I could get away with a temporary fix on a tank but not on tyres.

If isopon rots your gearbox, I think I would just spend the £100 for a new tank.:)
Problem with the seam is finding the hole and diesel sticks around while petrol evaporates. The sealant will have trouble sticking.

Yeah, I did think of that, I thought I could clean off around the seam with a blow torch.... then I remembered setting fire to my motorbike and my garage trying something stupid like that before so I just bit the bullet and ordered one :)
