Hi guys and gals
2010 90 Puma
Leak some where atop the fuel tank, only happens when I fill it to the brim
From previous threads the culprit would appear to be the filler hose off shoot breather where it attaches to the top of the tank.
So simple question how does one gain access ? does the tank have to be dropped down or is there an easy fix, noting I would do this on my drive, no access to a ramp.
Thanks in advance

It might be coming from the place where the sender unit screws into the tank. The top of the tank looks like this:

and the sender unit in the middle is retained by that notched ring arrangement, and is sealed by a rubber sealing ring. Because it is below the top of the tank it does tend to leak when the tank is full. A new rubber ring is helpful but I tend to find I need a bit of sealant to get a completely dry joint. Usually, you've got to drop the tank to get at them, but some people cut a hole in the load area floor to ease access.

Thanks Brown, the e bay pic explains all
I'll wait until tank it just about empty and try dropping it down

I changed the breather hose on mine without dropping the tank. I used a padsaw to cut off the original clip (one of the type that you squeeze together), and used a jubilee clip on the replacement secured using a small socket drive with a flexible extension. It's a fiddly job but if I can do it anyone should be able to do it. I also didn't follow the original route for the breather pipe as that puts a sharpish bend in it. My breather was well split

damn irritating that defenders dont have a hatch in the boot floor, as per discos....

(not that that comment helps anyone at all!)
