I have taken all of my cars to Liveridge and never had an issue with any of the work carried out or indeed the prices they charge? Surprised to hear people slagging them off to be honest, I have had over 9 cars from them and never had an issue, even when inevitably things brake they have always come up trumps and sorted the issues out quickly and cheaply.

No need of opening up a new thread I suppose..... but also my 1995 Defender started to leak from the fuel tank..
The tank originally was for the 3.5 V8, then the engine got changes for a 200TDI but the same tank was kept after having it thoroughly cleaned it etc....
What should I look for to understand the root-cause of the leak an assess if it can be fixed rather than change the fuel tank (I am in Ghana and finding parts is not that easy - less getting it shipped from Europe...)

Probably rusted at the seam where the two pressed halves of the tank are welded together. Check the gasket of the fuel sender on top of the tank first, make sure it isnt splashing out there.

give it a clean and try and trace the leak not easy unless you remove the tank because of the bottom support plate, its worth looking at the lhs of tank were sender fits in

I will do the checks you recommend! Are there any parts of the tank that you suggest replacing anyway - whatever happens, if I keep my tank or replace it with another one here (which will be equally as old as mine), I think it's worth changing whatever may get compromised with age (e.g. washers, etc..)
