Is there a reasonably priced replacement available yet?

My local dealer can get one, but at £320...

Not too good at the whole fabrication thing. Car is off the road due to no MOT, and the cradle is in 3 pieces

Not yet, there was someone selling refurbished one's on eBay a while ago, and even then they were £200 or something

Corrosion not a real problem in Valencia. But the 2002 td4 2 door I bought back from England for my daughter was in a terrible state It failed its ITV when I went to change to Spanish reg.

So whipped it off and took it to a local metal shop (they make steel gates). For a 140 euros using old one as pattern they knocked one up fully galvanised. Must be able to do the same in UK

sailed through ITV (MOT) examiner most impressed

Unfortunately, the only way is to bite the bullet and buy a replacement. At least that way you've got a genuine part and it will fit. I got my local boys to fit it and I'm glad I did as its a b*tch of a job. Lots of things to move and a fuel tank to hold up at the same time. I've seen plenty of 'pledges' to fabricate replacements but nothing comes to fruition. I admit its a lot of money for a bent tubing and metal plate but when they disintegrate there isn't much alternate other than buy a slightly less rusty one from flea-bay.

I know it's a bit of an old thread resurrection, but....

If any body is still in need of one, one has just been put on eBay, advertised as new, with warranty, eBay ID : 231547209722

And no, it's not me selling it :D

Cheers,
Tim.

I would have thought that this is a classic case of get someone who can weld to fix it...

Or find one off a scrapper.

they are real easy to fab, just get whats left of the old one and make templets from it ,then get some one to weld it for you if you cant weld, mine was so dad the bottom plates had totaly rusted away ,had to use the rust makes left on bottom of the tank as a templete ,draw it,cut it out in thicker steal than landrover use lol ,now its spot on :)will def last longer than the car lol

Not sure if this is a con or not, Why is the seller using a generic photo instead of the part for sale?
The part has been relisted but no feedback from the original buyer yet.
Only 6 sales on ebay and Neg feedback on another sale.

Buyer beware!

Yeah, you could be right mate, I didn't read the details, feedback etc!!
Just saw it listed whilst searching for other stuff and remembered the a few people on here had said they needed one before.
Having looked at it more now, I would be doubtful about buying from that seller!!
