I'm keen to understand how the fuel connections for a 2.25 petrol 1977 should be configured. The tank has two connectors plus the sender unit. On my Series 3 (just purchased) one of the connectors is linked to the fuel pump (seems a good idea) while the other one just has a tube to nowhere connected which leads to somewhere under the driver's seat. Is this a breather or just a mistake?

Mine has one pickup pipe and a blanking plate over the second hole - plus the sender. The same tank is used for diesel and petrol models so I presume it has a feed and return for the diesel engines.

diesel tanks have 2- one for a feed to the fuel filter / pump. The other is a return- which is not need for petrol.
