I just use the v power diesel

Dont know if its any good, but surely its better than supermarket crap

I know the v powers expensive, but it goes through my company books anyway

Dont see the point of me buying a 10 grand motor, then filling it up on the cheapest crap i can find

As long as my truck runs sweet, then its doing it job and earning me money

If i couldnt stomach the running costs then i would have bought something cheaper

I got it cos i like it, and dont really monitor the fuel usage, when its low i just fill it back up

except it all comes from the same refineries and all has to meet bs standards to be legal for sale:rolleyes:

don't have a problem with supermarket fuel, shell v-max, fuel save or any other except bp diesel from a local garage but thats due to the condition of the storage tank and not the actual diesel.
personally i think most of the claims for these super fuels is more brass and bull**** than fact and you only feel a difference to justify being stung for an extra 20p/litre.:doh:

not quite true,the big supermarkets can buy their fuel on the rotterdam open market and have it delivered to any storage facility of their choice.
 
still has to meet british standards though so whoever supplys it and wherever it's delivered to it still needs to be up to standard.

Yup, big style! Kangarooed after 1/2 mile of leaving garage. Managed to get the revs high enough to get it it onto lpg - all ok. At next stop had h**l of bother trying to get it started and keep it ticking over. Revs all over the place and stalling. Again managed to get ti onto lpg and home. Did much diluting of original SFS with other unleadeds including syphoning off a load with intention of 'driving it off' - that didnt work - car wont go at all.
Hed no replies to any contacts made with Shell. Expert here on Friday. Will let you know how it goes....
 
Cant remember all thats been checked/done/flushed/etc in the last 2 days, but the result is categorically, that there is nothing wrong with my engine and the fuel from Shell has caused the recent problems.

Interestingly we put some of the fuel drained out into a clean glass jar and there is a) a funny smell - bit like turpentine, and b) there is a bubble of something at the bottom of the jar - looks like something you see in a lava lamp....

My D1 is now purring like a pussy cat again - cant wait to go for a run in the morning.

I won't use Shell or BP. Always seem to find myself at Tesco filling up. I've only just put half a tank in, having made the last tank last nearly 4 weeks - NO idea how I managed that! If I go anywhere else it would be Total or Esso. Never had any probs *touches wood* so far with the Disco and never had any with my Fourtrack.
 
I saw something on tv about these better fuels. They investigated all types of car and found that they made no difference in normal cars with around 100/150 hp. They did, however, make a real difference in power in an impretza and an evo that they tried. The more highly tuned and powerful the engine, the more difference they make. I seem to remember that the old evo fq-360 would only run on bp ultimate. Landys are designed to cope with bad fuel so there's no point in putting expensive stuff in.
