checked around this site but can't find the information i require.
I have a P38 2.5 diesel and when i had the fault codes read by my local Land Rover Tuner it displayed fuel actuator fault. On the rangie i keep loosing power when decelerating with the fuel display flashing at me, only lasts a few seconds then picks the power back up. I do have some checks to make before going straight for the recon pump.
My question is do i need to replace the full pump or can the actuator within the pump be replaced?
if i need to replace does anyone have one for sale?

Just as likely to be injector number 4 or the crank sensor playing up, need to look at live data on the diagnostics to be certain what is going on.

Does it stall when dropping in gears
what's ur mpg like
Does it judder at low speed like crawling along in traffic

Does sound like my fault done fuel pump all was cured

When you say done your fuel pump....what did you do?

Replace or Re-time??

Hi saint.v8 I replaced it myself with a recon unit now it is fine and runs well

With the duff pump it started brillant when hot when I spoke to the guy how tried to recon my pump the internal.pressure was crap he had never seen one so low he was surprised it even ran in the end they binned the unit and gave me a full recon pump as mine was to far gone to recon it

Cheers for that Datatek.
I suspected it might be sensors, it's been on the autologic today and is still displaying the same fault, crank sensor was checked and working ok, so i'm guessing it's going to be the injector number 4.
Is it just replace injector number 4 to solve the issue?

Hi Matt
No stalling, just a loss of power when you lift your foot from the accelerator, I'm getting about 22mpg around town.
There is no juddering when running, no starting problems

I'm a bit dubious,on live data you can usually tell if injector 4 is not giving a decent signal, along with a fault code for it.Dont know about autologic but Testbook will show crank and injector speed signals on the same page.At a steady engine speed they should give the same value, but remember on deceleration the injector signal will disappear until the ecu see's the crank speed signal coming down low enough to start injecting again to give an idle.

I would have a word with your local diesel specialist why would a car give a fault code for a component that isn't specific for it

I understand that a faulting component can cause another component to fail and giv a fault codes for that unit

Only only been on landyzone for 8weeks or so and I've seen several people with this fuel quantity actuator I myself had this fault code

I done leak off pipes checked connection and ohms reading on injector 4 ohms reading 90-120 ohms it also give a different fault code to what you have, spoke to a local diesel specialist and indy specialist and they both confirmed that the code fuel quantity actuator is always the fault with the pump

The only way to tell is to get the pump off for testing I know it isn't cheap to do if you dnt have the knowledge or tools but I reckon after you have done all the checks it will be fuel pump internals

Ok that is my rant over

i've got the same fault on mine, and also had a different fault with no 4 injector which caused it to have basically no power, couldnt even drive up my lane. put new injector in and that fault went but the fault with fuel quantity actuator and the light coming on on deceleration still there, pump is on the to-do list

Thanks for that guys
It's not displaying a fault code for the injector, just the fuel quantity actuator, I'm not suffering any other problems than just the slight loss of power and the injector spraying warning light coming on for a second, then back to normal, acceleration is fine, just deceleration, on the autologic it did say my crank speed sensor was working correctly,
looks like i'm going to diesel specialist for some help, will keep you all updated on my progress,
was hoping to get away from replacing the pump

The Diesel Delivery Electronics (DDE) relies on the Crank Position Sensor, the No.4 Injector and the Fuel Quantity Actuator Solenoid thingy in the pump to measure the amount and timing of injection pulses....

A failure in any one of those could result in a 'Fuel Quantity Actuator' fault IMO, as the DDE will not be getting correct information, thus it will consider the Quantity to be incorrect, as the No.4 Injector may still be giving a signal albeit erronous and similarly with the CPS too....

Best of luck and lets us know what happens.

I'd still go for the crank sensor first. Spud H cured the same problem by fitting a new one.
