Call me mad, but, i'm putting a 2.5 petrol lump into my 2.5 n/a 110.
Can I fit a mechanical fuel pump to the petrol engine in the same way that seris engines have them?
Or do I have to fit an electric fuel pump?
cheers

The block is the same as the 2.5NA, and it will probably have a plate where the lift pump would live, I don't know if the cam shaft had the lobe on it or not, as you say the older series engines had this.

Take the plate off, and see if you can see a cam lobe, if that exists then you should be able to - not sure if the series pumps were the same fitting on the later blocks.

I don know if you can....but dont think its a good idea with petrol. I remember reading on one of the forums(trying to recall...will post link if i do).....where it said for petrol engines the fuel pump should be as near to the tank as possible...if its near the engine block the heat from the engine might vapourise the petrol causing vapour locks in the fuel system.
my two cents.
cheers

Cheers for replies, gonna look at my mates 2.5 petrol to get an idea, if a seris pump fits it, it may not pump enough to keep the 2.5 petrol flowing.

It will plenty trust me.

It will probably clear a gallon of fuel in about 3 minutes at full pelt - you do the maths.
