Petrol 55 plate FL1 - I get a petrol smell around the car when running and there are no leaks and have traced the problem to the top of the pump. I seem to be missing a blanking plug or vent pipe (see picture) from one of the connections. Has anyone got a picture of what I need and where to get one from.

It looks like a new pump, so I'd definitely check the seal is fitted correctly. The pipe connection is correct.

Actually it looks like the seal is resting on top of the tank, next to the pump in that picture, although it could be an illusion.

I thought there needs to be something attached to the left hand connection on the picture ? The pump is about a year old.

I think it vents out the filler somewhere.

That plastic molding is probably a generic part used in various different types of pump - some may have something connected to it, doesn't sound like if does in the Freelander spec pump.

Not on the Freelander. The pump is used on a few vehicles, some of which have a return line. The Freelander doesn't have a return line, so the hole could be or should be plugged.
