Gentlemen, can I have some advice please.

The list is long and distinguished, I know, but there are two types of Discovery 2 TD5's - those that have developed a fault in their Fuel Pressure Regulator and those that are going to ...........

Mine's a 2003 TD5 GS , 80k, on it's original FPR and it's leaking diesel but what I would like to know, please, is whether there are any quality differences between a genuine Land Rover part and an aftermarket one such as a Bosch or those sold by the well known suppliers.

I used a after market one on mine I have had no problems it has been on for about 7 months I think it is hit and miss abit just make sure its a good gasket you use anf you will get better warranty with stock part
 
I fitted a britpart one and it leaked within 40 miles !!. Replaced with a genuine and been fine for 30,000 miles.
 
If you ask for advice on here then I think it's your dues to let people know how you got on.

I searched for a genuine Land Rover Fuel Pressure Regulator and prices varied from £140 - £160 so I printed off a few of them and took them to the local Land Rover main dealer.

The Parts chap looked at the lowest price and said : "Yes, we'll match that."
The part was ordered and will be with me in 24 hours.

One thing though, take your engine number with you. Apparently there are two different FPR's for a 15P Discovery engine.

The fuel pressure regulator was changed over this morning.

Removing the engine removal bracket at the rear makes the job a lot easier as well as cable tying the pipes and moving them to one side.

Still a horrible job though.
 
I recently had mine fixed. The problem with the original landrover part is that it warps in time thus causing the leak. Now bearmach produce one for the same price as the original landrover version however better since their design does not warp in time.
 
Hi folks, sorry to highjack but just wondering is the FPR located at the back of the engine ? and is the leak worse when first priming prior to starting the engine or does it leak all the time ?, I only ask as I have a leak which seems to be bad with the ignition on, (fuel pump working) but then seems to be ok once the engine is started for a few minutes.

Ok thank you, mine is pretty bad until its started leaves a puddle and is washing off the old oil from the oil leak it had........its in the garage at the mo for the leak and ABS problem so I was just wondering what to expect bill wise.
