Couldn't work out why my back window was misting up in the dry today, and when I opened the bonnet there was a heavy mist of diesel from the return pipe to the regulator being sprayed out!

Engine does not need to be running, only pump running for the mist to emerge and the tank to empty rather swiftly......

Do I need to replace the whole unit or just the return pipe (running front to back on the OS of the block)?

pipe unions have o rings that seal them often get damaged when pipes fitted or removed,pipe could easily be replaced if a short one or repaired ,hose clips would hold a join or push fits etc

Mine is split just under the E and C in "Direct" as above.......
 
just fit a new pipe then , i have loads of them as they come with regulator,just watch oring where it screws in

Great! If I can't get one locally, how long would it take to post? Am in Suffolk.....

Easy job to do? Connection to fuel rail seems quite tight? EGR removed which might make things easier?
 
Have managed to source the pipe locally and get hold of a crow's foot 14mm socket.

Now to fit the thing.......
