Hi FOLKS
Last two days have had a problem with the fuel stop solenoid when starting engine, tdi300 96, starter motor turns engine ok but solenoid not operating no voltage to it,spade connector ok.
Fault cleared its self this evening after about 20 mins, engine was warm, and started ok.Fault does not occour whilst driving.
Have been looking at wiring diagrams to trace fault but have not been able to find where it is connected too,Haynes manual shows connecting wire as White Green mine is black,a factory fitted alarm is installed.
Would be very greatful for any advice as I have had to disconnect solenoid and hard wire too battery positive to get it started not a very satisfactory solution
Started to look at the wiring again today was starting ok,but fault has reoccured only reading 9.7 vlts at solenoid could this be the fuel lift relay contacts.
After leaving the ignition on for a few mins heard the solenoid operate, voltage had creeped up to 12 vlts, engine started ok but just the once.
