Just failed ITV with an Annoying little fuel leak on a 1999 TD5. its on the rear left hand side of the engine,
Can someone tell me from the attached photo what the little component in the center of the picture is. Thanks in advance

fuel pressure regulator, there are 2 types one with 2 pipes one with 3, 3 been the latest and the 2 pipe been the one you need, have a read of this https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/fuel-leak-fix.322385/

Thank you, it looks like the one with two pipes. it also looks a bit of a pain in the arse to change it, would i be right.
It also looks bloody expensive having a quick glance

it helps to remove the lifting bracket ,and remove the switch first 19mm spanner needed, i added to my post have a read of the link i added, the fpr is secured by bolts bottom one been the trickiest, the pipes are 14mm spanner size, i allways remove the pipes during removal and from the new unit before fitting ,on a defender its quite easy much harder on a disco

Thanks for all that James, outcome is i,ve ordered a cheap sixty Quid replacement, looks easy enough to fit now i have my head around it.
i have to wait a week or so for it but will let you know how fitting goes
 
Done 2 over the years - just a bit of patience and working by feel for a couple of bits it’s fine. And I’m a numpty so you should breeze through it! Enjoy, A
 
Take your time and look out for
1 The small filter in the head which can fall out and get lost when you remove the o ring (its expensive)
2 keep things as clean as possible don't contaminate the fuel to the injectors.
3 The pipe connections have a small o ring on the end to seal them they are usually squashed and needs replacing
4 As James mentioned there are two types be sure to use the correct gasket for your version, when re assembling.
5 Run the purge cycle two or three times when you are finished to get the air out and try to flush away any contamination.

I used a repair kit as the seals and regulator fail but the housing is just a small aluminum casting
