I have fuel getting into the engine oil. I presumed it was from the seal around the injectors leaking.

Could a faulty fuel regulator cause fuel to enter the engine lubrication system. The fuel reg does seem to be covered in oil but it is hard to determine if it is engine oil or leaking fuel.

Could it be anything else.

From your profile it appears that you may  be talking about a TD5. If that is so, then I believe there is an issue relating to the high pressure internal fuel rail which can leak and then find it's way into the sump.

I was hoping it would be something less expensive. If it was the rings surely I would get some oil entering the chamber and then smoke out of the exhaust, which I'm not.

Any other ideas, I have heard about a fuel rail perhaps?

Great minds think alike.
Where do I get a fuel rail from (part number?) or is it just a set of seals. I've ordered some injector seals so I was hoping to do as many seals as I could at the same time to save removng the timing cover again and again.

Hi Discojak, I'm not a TD5 man I'm afraid, just a lowly Tdi 300 so I can't be as precise as I would like for you.

Perhaps you could do some searching on the forum for maybe "diesel in the sump" or something similar. I know it's a known problem with TD5.

have just changed the seals on mine when doing the headgasket not to bad to do you need a special puller to get the injectors out do not try with anything else as the head casing is thin and can easily be damaged note where the injectors come from as they have to go back in the hole they were removed from they have different codes also change the copper washers refit them all connect wiring and then before fitting top cover turn on ignition pump fuel pedal about ten times to purge the system and then look for leaks around the injectors when refitting the top injector rail back off the adjusters then wind in till the injectors bottom then slacken off one complete turn then tighten lock nut

the fuel rail is machined into the head so is not servicable also make sure everything is spotlessly clean as dirt in the fuel rail goes straight into the injectors (NOT GOOD)

So, punctuation out of stock then?:D
