If you know your approximate range on a full tank just make a note of your mileage when you fill up and give yourself 40 odd miles spare on what mileage you decide to fill up again and an extra can of diesel in the back.

I haven't got a clue. I will run her till empty and the try and record from there until I can get a new gauge if that's what's buggered. Thanks RW for all your help

James when earthing the live, nothing happens. I tried with ignition off and on. Nothing. Does that confirm suggestions that the gauge is faulty?

Also, on the tank/sender I only have two wires. One green (Live) one black (Earth) and then what looks like a blanked off connector. I certainly don’t have a low fuel warning light. Can you advise how I can fit this?

it would suggest gauge is faulty if it has a live in to it then out to the sender but when thats earthed gauge doesnt rise to full
