Hi All,

Hope you can help please, had a search and can't find anyone with the same issue.

I have a fuel leak from the injector leak off pipes, so much so that it popped the pipe off after i'd replace them assuming it was just perished.

On further investigation it seems there is fuel flowing from the injector pump up the return towards the injectors. I have no symptoms other than a pretty substantial fuel leak.

Is is time for a new pump? Has anyone seen this before?

Hopefully it can be fixed without a new pump.

flow from pump is restricted by tiny hole size of the banjo bolt securing return pipe , is return line restricted

I'm not quite sure what you mean, is the return from the injectors to the pump restricted?

The pipe is blowing off between injector 2 and 3. The leak off pipes were systematically removed to show that the fuel appeared to be coming from injector 1. Removed the return rail banjo from injector 1 and the fuel was coming up from the pump at quite a rate, little/nothing coming from the injector.

injectors and pump have to return to tank , if its not its somewhere between tank and engine

I had exactly this problem about a month ago. Turned out to be the lift pump that was knackered!! I have no idea why, but changing the lift pump cured the problem!!!

Thanks for the reply mate, did you just change the lift pump or did you change any of the pipework too?
 
Well my leak off pipes were looking a bit ropey so thought that could have been initial problem. Changed those but didn't cure. Then changed lift pump. Did nothing else though. At the time I was told Delphi were the best brand to fit. Worked great for me. Hope this sorts it for you

The banjo on the IP itself is not a standard one - whilst a normal one has a large hole, to give full flow, the one on the IP has a tiny hole, to maintain internal pressure (on the pump side)

There should not be significant back pressure on the return to the tank. You should be able to blow down the line, and (probably) hear noise from the tank.

The leak offs would, im sure, not tolerate much pressure - as, i guess, you are finding.
