i recently bought a 1989 110 that's had a 200 tdi fitted. It has been stood for 6 years but started and was running fine... I've given it a full service and since then it won't Rev past say 2500? I've bypassed the tank so the issue is from the fuel filer onwards. All the pipes seem tight and not perforated, but it's either being starved or air is getting in ( I'm thinking).
Re the filters they start from 1990 but this sense was registered in 1989 is there a different fuel filter?

Thanks

What do you mean a full service? Oils changed, fuel, oil and air filters changed, timing set, wheel bearings checked ?????

Sounds like if it's not revving enough now, and it was before you serviced it, then you've 'upset' something .. You didn't try to tweak the Injector pump did you? You haven't modified the air intake, or exhaust at all?

I'd go back over what you've actually done and re-check it ...

Yeah all of the above.... But I didn't think the wheel bearings would have affected it ;)
Nope not modified or tweaked a single thing.
Think I will just have to check the all of the pipes again.

Nad filter is different and the two are not interchangeable.
If you fitted a TDI filter you have a tdi filter head.

Also, have you removed the fuel banjo bolts from the FIP? Feed and return bolts will fit either port but the return has a smaller hole in the bolt and , if fitted in the feed port will starve the engine of fuel.

When you replaced the fuel filter, did you fill the new one up before fitting?

If not, did you open the bleed valve on top of filter housing and pump the lift pump until fuel appeared at the bleed valve?

My guess is the answer will be no to more than one of those questions.

Nope.. I've not touched the above.

Think I'm just going to have to replace all the fuel lines, I can't see a hole that air could get in but it could be a pin hole.

When I first start it the revs climb well, but it gets to a point and fluctuates.

The lift pump, if its oem, has a gauze filter in it - that can get blocked.
Can make a ticking noise when blocked too.

No need to do any of that on a 200, fit start let idle for a minute job done

I'd recheck the timing ... After checking the air filter is fitted properly, and that the air inlet hoses, all of them, haven't collapsed internally.

Haven't sucked a load of crappy 6 year old fuel though it by any chance or did you drain the tank and fill with fresh?
