Tried to remove the fuel filter the other day as it hasn’t been changed for the past 4years!!!
Nor the engine oil 100k+ no service going strong but it seriously lacks power now when starting on a hill I’ve tried a pipe wrench on the filter it just slips any tips on removing it?

I've had filters that have torn apart before undoing.
I don't know the td5 but I would take the housing off so you can tackle it in a vice with stillsons.
Assuming it's a spin on type?

+1 what @Flossie says, but go easy on the filter housing when you're holding it in a vice or anything else, remember its only aluminium.

Also try getting it off after a run whilst it's hot. Wear gloves

My filter is steel as it’s rusty

He means the alloy housing that the steel filter screws to.

Grip it with an old belt, webbing strap, and use a long bar , tyre lever

Take care the alloy housing could easily get damaged, but a belt or strap is the best bet.

Use an oil filter strap or chain wrench around the filter rather than Stilsons. Try tightening it a tad before loosening.

The rubber seal has glued it's self to the flange cos it's been over tightened with no lube.

Mine was seized on my Defender when I bought it I ended up hammering a screwdriver through it and it came off fairly easy then

So as I read this.

You have not changed the engine oil in 100K+ , but you have changed the fuel filter in the last 4 years.

So are you doing 25K per year or was the fuel filter changed 4 years ago , but the oil was not ?

I changed all my oils and filters every 5k miles. For what they cost its cheaper than an engine rebuild or replacement.

If you pour boiling water over it, it might warm it up and cause expansion, which might help break the seal.
